Search Engine Optimization Tips

Want to optimize your website and drive relevant traffic to your page? Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the way to go!

SEO helps optimize a website by systematically relating certain pages to specific keywords typed into a search engine. One blogger, Jeffrey Smith, explains SEO as “a collage of web development, copywriting, marketing, direct response and PR.” The purpose of SEO is to connect consumers with providers in an effective way. To drive traffic to your site, you must first think about how your consumers communicate their needs through a search engine and what words describe your service.

These are called keywords. Keywords are
the gatekeepers to relevant results. Different keywords will be usd by the searcher depending on the results for which he or she
is looking. For example, if your website sells high-end heels and someone types “cheap heels” into the search engine, your website should not show up. If it does, that person will quickly leave the site because it is not relevant to her search. Utilizing SEO minimizes the chance of this happening and maximizes the chance of pertinent customers visiting your site. Research has been done to determine consumer search and keyword trends. For SEO to be effective, one must have a foundation of this understanding.

Another important aspect of SEO is links. Search engines look within the codes of each website when generating results for a search. The more links a website has, the more credible it seems; especially if a page is linking to a well-known and reliable site. Connecting with other authoritative sites through linkage makes your site more reputable and places your site higher on the results page. Another factor is perfecting the titles of your links. Everyone knows that when a results page pops up on Google, searchers look for the most relevant title to click. If your pages and links are clearly titled and organized, it is likely that your site will welcome more visitors that find your site applicable to their search.

Lastly, a piece of advice is to keep your website updated. Continue adding fresh information that is relevant to the time. No one trusts a website that clearly hasn’t been updated in over a year. The internet is supposed to be a place to access current information quickly.

If you’re in public relations, you want to promote your site and increase users of it. You also want it to have a good reputation. Using these SEO tips, you can improve the PR for your website and service.
